Learning Centre

About:

This Service unit of the Foundation engages Special Educators who understand the ‘abilities’ of children with special needs and teach them the way they can learn. We design customized plan and focus on building their independence, school-readiness and help them mainstream. We hire Occupational, Speech and Physio-Therapists who are adept at addressing the sensory and physical developmental needs of children. A Counselor speaks with the parents individually to help them cope with the emotional and practical issues they face personally and socially. The beneficiaries at the Training Centre are special children and young adults in the age group of 3 to 15 years with developmental disabilities like Autism, Intellectual Disability, Attention Deficit Disorder, Hyperactivity Disorders, Speech and Communication disability, Cerebral palsy and Learning Disabilities.

Early Intervention Unit:

This unit provides special services for infants and toddlers between age 3 to 6 years, who are at risk for developmental delays. These services are designed to identify and meet children’s needs in five developmental areas. These are physical, cognitive, communication, social or emotional development, sensory and adaptive development. Early intervention includes provision of services to such children and their families for the purpose of lessening the effects of the condition. Early intervention can be remedial or preventive in nature—remediating the existing developmental problems or preventing their occurrence of disability. In a nutshell, the basis for early intervention is that, by providing a stimulating environment, creating appropriate opportunities for learning and providing support to the families, young children who are at risk or already have developmental delays could be helped.

Special School Unit:

This unit provides Special education that aims to support students with physical. Cognitive, emotional, behavioural and developmental challenges. The curriculum goes well beyond academics and, depending on the child’s need, developmental therapies like Sensory Integration therapy, Neuro developmental therapy and Speech and Communication development therapy are provided. Besides these Yoga, Music, Art and Sports are an integral part of the curriculum. All the parents compulsorily go through guidance and counseling sessions with the school counselor because Parents of children with special needs face unique challenges that can be overwhelming and stressful. These parents often have to navigate a complex web of medical, educational, and social services to ensure that their child receives the support and care they need. This can be a daunting task, and many parents may feel isolated and unsure of how to cope.

Academy for Slow Learners

We strongly believe that every child has a potential to learn, irrespective of their abilities or socio-economic-cultural background, and emphasize on holistic development of children. This unit offers a rounded program that will respect the learning pace of the children while helping them meet social norms. All the students participate in Dance, Yoga, Art, Music, Sports, traditional indoor games and memory enhancement training. They are usually school-drop-outs, First- Generation Learners or Out of School children. It is a full-time classroom program facilitated by qualified/trained teachers and examination under NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) System. Behaviour therapy and Counselling are provided to the students facing emotional challenges.
